Connections bring traffic
More traffic sources
People spend hours in social media sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr, Delicious, StumbleUpon or Digg. There is no point in competing with these sites. Instead, you can bring the content from the popular sites to your own site. This will extend your web presence.
Windows to other worlds
Flickr, for example, has very advanced photo sharing tools and loads of space to upload your images to. There are many reasons for having your gallery in Flickr instead of a self-built gallery – you save bandwidth and get access to great organizing and processing tools. Even if the pictures are stored and displayed in Flickr, they can be displayed in your website as well (this is called embedding). You get the best of both worlds. The same goes to all major content-specific service – be it a video site or link sharing service.
Concentrate on content
When you use a third-party site to store your content, you don’t have to worry about updating your content management system. It is also easier to submit and maintain your content (video, images, text, music, links, etc.).
Add functionality
If your website looks great, but doesn’t have enough features, they can be added.
